Cindy Uken wrote a story about a woman who had a rare injury that resulted in her leg being amputated. I shot the video to accompany the story. You can watch the video below or read the story here: http://bit.ly/1mXU5bL
Today, ETHEL and Robert Mirabal were in my studio today. Robert is a Grammy Award Winning flutist and one of ETHEL’s founders and viola player, Ralph Farrs , is a Grammy nominated musician who has worked with Leonard Bernstein, Martin Scorsese, Depeche Mode, Natalie Merchant, Harry Connick Jr., Allen Ginsberg, Yo-Yo Ma and Gorillaz. The rest of ETHEL consisted of violinsists Tema Watstein and Kip Jones and cellist Dorothy Lawson.
All of the musicians were incredibly talented and fun to work with. Although, as usual, I wasn’t really able appreciate their music until after they had left. When I am recording musical acts it is usually just me working the soundboard and anywhere from 3 to 6 cameras, I am usually running through checklists in my head of all the things that I need to do to make sure that I don’t screw up. I am so busy worrying about all the variables that the music kind of floats in the background of my head. It isn’t until post-production where I can really hear the music, and this case be wowed. If you get the opportunity, I would recommend checking them out. I wasn’t expecting much before they came in the studio, but I am now a fan.
Here is Magik City Music Group’s second song from their performance in my studio in the Gazette.
This week I shot two pretty amazing individuals. The first was Christian Parrish Takes The Gun aka Supaman. Hes a member of the Absalooke (Crow) Nation. He was invited to this years Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to Fancy Dance on one of the floats. He is also a pretty talented rapper, so I am hoping to get him back in the studio to perform some of his music in the near future. In the video Christian gives describes the origins of Fancy Dance and then demonstrates his skills.
The second is another Wyoming country artist, Doug Balmain, who like fellow Wyoming artist Teka Brock shuns the pop country sounds of Nashville to create more heartfelt and personal music.
These were both shot with a Canon 5d MKIII and a Canon 70D. A GoPro Hero 2 was also used on Doug’s video.
Here is a music video of Christian aka Supaman shot by B.L.A.D.E.
I am editing some of my Honor Flight photos so far this is one of my favorites. This was taken at the FDR memorial. Technically it is not great, and the lighting was awful hence the black and white, but the image really pulls at me. I saw this WWII vet reading the quote and grabbed it a split second before he left I waited around for another vet to come along to read the quote when I was better ready. but it was tucked away and none did.
Here is the video that I shot of the Magik City Music Group. They are a Billings-based hip-hop act. The band’s members are MC Luis Montoya, Lead Vocalist Chalce-donae, and DJ Next Year aka Rodney Montoya.

Here is an an interview that I shot today of Auliea Hanlon, the mother of Cherise Moralez. Cherize Moralez was raped by her teacher at Senior High School when she was 14 and she later killed herself. The case has recently drawn international attention because Judge G. Todd Baugh made some idiotic statements about Cherise at a sentencing hearing for her rapist, Stacey Rambold. He basically justified a 30 day sentence for rape by claiming that Cherise acted older than her age.
The interview is edited into two parts. The third video is of the protest today to get Baugh to resign.
