Supaman stopped by my studio at the Gazette the other day to record a video for a remake of his ‘Prayer Song.’ Recently, Supaman has been working on incorporating a loop machine into his hip hop act in order create a one-man-band performance. In addition the loop machine, he has also has begun to incorporate traditional Apsaalooke music into his hip hop. He scratches on an old record of traditional crow songs and loops a traditional drum beat and flute track. He also has shunned his street clothes for a Fancy Dance outfit.
When he first approached me about his new venture of wearing his fancy dance outfit to perform hip hop, I was a bit skeptical. But once we got into the studio and I began to hear the music he was making, my skepticism dissipated and I began to get very excited about putting out this video. I strongly encourage you to check out this video. Supaman’s personality and ability to put on a great performance really shine through. Caution, however, the phenomenal music might get stuck in your head.
Here is a video from his last visit to the studio where he demonstrated Fancy Dance.
